In the new National Education Policy-2020, the board examination will continue in Std-10 and Std-12.  (Board clarification)

National Education Policy-2020 Curriculum and Pedagogy in School: Learning Should be Holistic, Integrated Enjoyable, and Engaging." The following details are given in paragraph which are reproduced below.

 While the Board exams for Grades 10 and 12 will be continued, the existing system of Board and entrance examinations shall be reformed to eliminate the need for undertaking coaching classes. To reverse these harmful effects of the current assessment system, Board exams will be redesigned to encourage holistic development; students will be able to choose many of the subjects in which they take Board exams, depending on their individualized interests. Board exams will also be made 'easier', in the g sense that they will test primarily core capacities/competencies rather than months of coaching and memorization; any student who has been going to and making a basic effort in a school class will be able to pass and do well in the corresponding subject Board Exam without much additional effort. Tofurther eliminate the high stakes' aspect of Board Exams, all students will beallowed to take Board Exams on up to two occasions during any given schoolyear, one main examination and one for improvement, if desired."

Attention is drawn to the facts mentioned in the National Education Policy 2020, All concerned are requested to take note. National Education Policy_2020 published by Ministry of"National Education Policy 2020 - Chapter-4 - Curriculum and pedagogy in school: learning should be holistic, relevant, enjoyable and active."

 The existing system of board and entrance examinations will be amended to eliminate the need for coaching classes.  While the board examination for standard 10 and 12 will be continued.  The board's examination structure will be restructured to eliminate these harmful effects of the current assessment system and to promote the holistic development of students;  Students will be able to choose board exam subjects from many subjects based on their personal interests.  Board exams will also be made 'easier'.  Simple in the sense that those exams will test abilities and qualifications rather than coaching or teaching.  Any student who is going to school and trying to study in school will be able to pass the board exam and do well without extra effort.  To eliminate the risk of spoiling the board exam year, all students will be able to take the board exam twice during any school year.  For a major exam and an improvement if desired.
