Dr Kalaiselvi N come CSIR Director The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research( CSIR) has got its 1st Woman Director- General- Dr KalaiselviN. CSIR, which is India’s Largest Research Organization, will now be lead by the electrochemical scientist who specializes in lithium- ion batteries. Get the Complete Details Then.

Dr Kalaiselvi N come CSIR DirectorBreaking the glass ceiling, Dr Kalaiselvi N has come the 1st Woman Director- General of CSIR. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research( CSIR) is India’s largest exploration association and is run as the institute of 38 state- run exploration institutes across the country. Dr Kalaiselvi will be replace and succeed Shekhar Mande, who was been superannuated in April. She'll take over CSIR from Mr Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology who was accorded special fresh charge of CSIR in April. This is the first time in its history of 80 times that CSIR has appointed a woman Director- General.

This isn't the first time that Dr Kalaiselvi is in news for breaking the glass ceiling. Prior to taking around as CSIR’s 1st Woman Director, she had also first woman director of the CSIR- Central Electrochemical Research Institute at the Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu. In her part as the Director- General of CSIR, she will lead the network of 38 laboratories and nearly,500 scientists for a period of the two times.

Research Work

Dr Kalaiselvi is known for her work on the lithium- ion batteries. During her term at CSIR- CECRI, she concentrated on electrochemical power systems and development of electrode accoutrements . Her current exploration design involves development of “ virtually feasible Sodium- ion/ Lithium- sulfur batteries and Supercapacitors ”. She has also shared in perpetration of multiple systems arounde-mobility in India since 2015.

Academic Laurels

Dr Kalaiselvi belongs to Ambasamudhram, a small megacity- city grounded in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli quarter. During her nonage, she attended Tamil-medium academy, which numerous consider to be a interference in their progress in the scientific disciplines; she set up it to be a positive contributing factor. Her training in Tamil Medium helped her lay a strong foundation of lores while enabling her to quicky grasp complex scientific generalities.

On academic front, Dr Kalaiselvi completed her PhD in the Chemistry and was working as a professor before the joining CSIR- Central Electrochemical Research Institute( CSIR- CECRI). During her term from 1999 to 2019, she has won multiple laurels, fellowships including bagging the‘Young Scientist Seminar Award ’ of CECRIthrice. She was also awarded an Indian National Science Academy( INSA) Visiting fellowship in 1999. She has published over 125 exploration papers and holds six patents.
