Is the government planning on LPG subsidy? Find out whose account the money will come from

LPG cylinder latest news: In recent months, the benefit of subsidy on LPG cylinder was being given in selected districts of 15 provinces of the country. But now this number has come down to 8 states including Union Territories.

In the midst of rising inflation, big news can be found regarding the subsidy for LPG cylinders. There is constant talk that the price of LPG cylinder will touch the figure of 1000. The government's side has not yet come forward regarding the rising inflation of LPG cylinders.

LPG and commercial gas prices have also gone up this month. But an internal assessment of the government indicates that consumers are willing to pay up to Rs.1000 per cylinder. According to sources, the government can take a decision on LPG cylinders in two ways. First, the government should supply cylinders without subsidy. Second, some selected consumers should also be given the benefit of subsidy.

What is the government's plan on subsidy?

The government has not yet clarified anything about giving subsidy. But as per the information received so far, the rule of income of Rs. 10 lakhs will be enforced and the beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana will get the benefit of subsidy.  Let you know that the subsidy for the rest of the people may end.

 Who gets the subsidy now?

Let me tell you that the subsidy on LPG has been stopped in some places for the last several months and this rule has been in force since May 2020.  The move comes after crude oil and gas prices continued to fall during the Corona epidemic in international markets.  However, so far the government has not stopped the subsidy on LPG cylinders completely.

The government spends so much on subsidies

Government expenditure on subsidy stood at Rs. 3,559 during the financial year 2021.  In FY20, the expenditure was Rs 24,468 crore.  In fact, it is under the DBT scheme which was introduced in January 2015, under which customers have to pay the full amount of non-subsidized LPG cylinders.  On the other hand, the subsidy money from the government is refunded to the customer's bank account.  As this refund is direct, the scheme is named DBTL.

The price of 14.2 kg cylinder without subsidy has increased by Rs.  With this, the price of LPG cylinder in the national capital Delhi has increased from Rs 884.50 to Rs 899.50.  It is noteworthy that earlier on the first day of the month, the oil companies had increased the price of 19 Kg commercial gas cylinder by Rs 43.5 per cylinder.  However, there was no increase in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders at that time.
